Uma by COMO at a glance
Accommodation
The rooms at Uma combine the colourful accents of traditional Bhutanese craftsmanship with the clean-lined contemporary design for which COMO Hotels and Resorts are known. The result is a luxury resort with a fresh, original look that feels sleek even as it recognises Bhutan’s cultural context. Each of the rooms and villas have low-slung cream furnishings that keep the focus on the mesmerising views that you can enjoy from the comfort your king or twin bed.
Relaxation and Fitness
The COMO Shambhala Retreat, part of the brand’s wellness philosophy, is a destination in itself. The on-site naturopathic doctor leads complimentary evening yoga classes in the studio (Paro), where floor-to-ceiling windows open up to forest views. In addition to Asian-inspired, holistic treatments (reflexology, Ayurvedic therapy), the spa also offers Bhutanese traditions in holistic wellness and a more upscale version of a traditional hot stone bath house.
Dining
Much of the products they use are coming from their organic kitchen garden or sourced with local farmers from the Punakha valley. They benefit from fresh vegetable, fruit and dairy products every day, which they turn into a selection of healthy or indulgent dishes, which are all extremely tasty. Their menu offers both traditional dishes as well as our international ones. Bhutan’s royal family regularly makes Paro, their restaurant of choice.
Activities & Excursions
COMO Uma Paro and COMO Uma Punakha offer exciting activities and excursions to enhance any visit to Bhutan. The hotels are ideally placed to appreciate the valley’s spectacular sceneries while also offering easy access to nearby attractions, like Punakha Dzong and the Divine Madman’s Temple in Punakha or the Taktsang “Tiger’s Nest” Monastery in Paro.

Uma by COMO Paro
COMO’s first property in Bhutan—a 20-suite hillside lodge surrounded by nine standalone villas—beautifully blends into a backdrop of blue pine trees above Paro, one of the five main valleys. Artisan-crafted woodwork and handpainted walls add a touch of tradition to the former nobleman’s home-turned-spa sanctuary.
Uma by COMO Punakha
With a dramatic location amongst terraced rice paddies, Uma Punakha should be on every traveller’s luxury bucket list. The eight-room property affords superb views of lush hills cascading into the Mo Chu river. Sleek decor and a small yet excellent restaurant and spa achieve bijou perfection.
